OCEAN

The Indian Ocean covers an area of 73 million km² , the maximum depth is 7725 m and the average depth is 3890 m. It is the least extensive of the three major oceans and is about 20% of the total area of the oceans on earth. This includes several ocean islands, some of which are independent states: Madagascar, the fourth largest island in the world, Comoros, the Seychelles, the Maldives, Mauritius and Sri Lanka. Other islands, for example Andamane and Nicobar island are uninhabited paradises.
